About Q. T. Pie

Our Story

Q.T. Pie was born 25 years ago as a symbol of cultural and racial diversity that aimed to teach the kids around the world the universal values that unite us all as human beings on this beautiful planet. Q.T. Pie’s character has been showing the kids that in spite of looking different we can be friends, work and play together and support each other during difficult moments in life.

Q.T. Pie character was developed in 1998 by an artist, illustrator and designer Galen T. Pauling and writer Stephanie Sanders from Detroit, Michigan. They initially brought to life this little precious curious girl to help young African American girls connect and identify with other girls who looked like them, so they could be inspired and empowered to explore the world around them and learn all about it.

Q.T. Pie’s journey began in 1998 when the first story book ''The Ingredients of a Q.T. Pie’' came out. Since then, three more Q.T. Pie story books and four coloring and activities books have been created. The books were sold in more than 10 countries around the globe. In the United States, Q.T. Pie books have been made available through major retailers such as Target, Walmart, Kmart, Amazon as well as Scholastic book clubs. Thousands of copies have been sold inviting more and more people to enter the wonderful world of Q.T. Pie where one can learn about love, compassion, friendship, responsibility and respect.

This cute big-hearted inquisitive little girl became part of many families that wanted to see and hear more of her stories. Lots of love has been shared with Q.T. Pie and her creators over the years by the readers and fans. This outpouring of support continued to inspire the character designer Galen Pauling to bring more of Q.T. Pie books and other Q.T. Pie products such as beach towels and t-shirts to the marketplace.

Today, at her 25th Anniversary, Q.T. Pie’s journey continues and inspires more adventures and new products that will be coming to the market place soon.
